El objetivo del libro es mostrar una metodología proyectual de un nuevo paradigma en arquitectura, perfectamente integrada en el ecosistema natural. El libro tiene un carácter fundamentalmente práctico, y constituye una herramienta básica para la práctica profesional del arquitecto, ya que contiene una enorme cantidad de información gráfica, incluyendo esquemas estructurales, esquemas bioclimáticos y detalles constructivos. En la primera parte del libro se reflexiona sobre la necesidad de establecer un ecosistema artificial, que regule la actividad y los productos desarrollados por la red humana, y como consecuencia, de un nuevo paradigma en arquitectura. Con esta finalidad se establece una estrategia de diseño, que por un lado permite proyectar y construir edificios perfectamente integrados en el ecosistema natural, y por otro lado permita la evaluación de edificios ya existentes. Para definir esta estrategia de diseño se establecen un conjunto de indicadores sostenibles, y un conjunto de acciones arquitectónicas, así como una metodología proyectual y una nueva sintaxis arquitectónica. La estrategia de diseño descrita permite construir edificios a base de componentes genéricos industrializados, que pueden ensamblarse entre sí con gran facilidad, y del mismo modo, recuperarse, repararse y reutilizarse un número indeterminado de veces. Como consecuencia se pueden obtener edificios desmontables, trasladables, ampliables y reconfigurables, que no generan residuos, y que tienen un ciclo de vida infinito. No obstante, la componente más importante del libro es la definición de una estrategia de diseño bioclimático, que permite proyectar tipologías de edificios con consumo energético insignificante, y capaces de autorregularse térmicamente, debido tan solo a su diseño arquitectónico, y sin necesidad de artefactos tecnológicos. Ello permite conseguir edificios autosuficientes en energía, con un bajo coste económico. Por último, el libro describe una estrategia de diseño para lograr una arquitectura autosuficiente en energía, en agua y en alimentos, al menor coste económico posible. En la segunda parte del libro se analizan con todo detalle varios proyectos realizados por Luis De Garrido, con el fin de ilustrar diferentes manifestaciones de un mismo paradigma.
The aim of the book is to show a design methodology for a new paradigm in architecture, perfectly integrated into the natural ecosystem. The book is fundamentally practical, and is an essential tool for the professional practice of the architect, as it contains an enormous amount of graphic information, including structural schemes, bioclimatic diagrams and construction details. In the first part of the book reflects on the need to establish an artificial ecosystem, which regulates the activity and the products developed by the human network, and as a consequence, a new paradigm in architecture. To this end, establishing a design strategy, which on one hand allows designing and constructing buildings perfectly integrated into the natural ecosystem, and on the other hand allows evaluation of existing buildings. To define this design strategy establishing a set of sustainability indicators, and a set of architectural actions and a design methodology and a new architectural syntax. The design strategy described allows constructing buildings based industrialized generic components that can be assembled together very easily, and likewise, recovered, repaired and reused any number of times. Following are obtainable module buildings, portable, scalable and reconfigurable no waste, and having an infinite life cycle. However, the most important component of the book is the definition of a bioclimatic design strategy which allows building typologies project with negligible power consumption and thermally capable of regulating itself, due only to its architectural design and technological artifacts without . This allows to achieve energy self-sufficient buildings, with a low cost. Finally, the book describes a design strategy to achieve energy self-sufficient architecture, water and food, at the lowest possible economic cost. In the second part of the book discusses in detail various projects carried out by Luis De Garrido, to illustrate different manifestations of the same paradigm.
