Desde la creación del mito de la torre de Babel hasta la aparición de los primeros rascacielos en 1850 en los Estados Unidos, el modelo se ha reproducido regularmente en el mundo entre los siglos XX y XXI. Las torres reflejan uno de los aspectos más importantes de la modernidad y constituyen referencias indispensables en términos de planificación urbana.
